dd question?

Can I dd an .img file straight to a cd-burner? I know I can to a floppy, but I don't know about a cd-burner. If so are there any special commands other than: dd if=xx.img of=/dev/xxx

Thanks

No.

"If so are there any special commands other than: dd if=xx.img of=/dev/xxx"

Yes. Use mkisofs to create an .iso and then feed the .iso file created by mkisofs to cdrecord to do the burn. See:
man mkisofs
man cdrecord
