Question CyberBlade i1 and RHL72 (Compaq Evo150)

Anybody know how to XConfigure an Evo150 Laptop for use with RedHat 7.2 under VMWare 3.1? I get a load of funny messages from XFree86 and XConfigurator says no can do. The list of adapters has no entry for Trident Cyberblade i1, just a General.
At startup runlevel 5 is set but reverts to 3 after a while.
All black and text mode it is.

Its not just vmware. The Trident Cyberblade is one of those zero documented cards so the XFree guys haven't gone very far in working on it. I only ever got it to work right with XFree86 3.3.6, but didn't put a lot of effort into it. Whenever I ran the autoprober: /usr/X11/bin/XFree86 -configure, it hung the machine.

This was under XFree 4.1.0 though, which is what you have, but 4.2.0 is available and I never tried it.

Luck,

I tried to run XFree86 -configure and then execute the subsequent file which is generated but sure whines about VMWare and some settings. Seems hopeless...

Sorted out! VMWare mounts a fake CD when asking to install utilites and there is a tar file that when untared and executed installs the drivers to match your hw and sets X86Free up.
Need help, ask me!
