Cups

Hi - I am a relatively new Linux user

I installed cx for office97 on my SUSE 9.3 system with good results but the in the process somehow screwed up my automount for my cdrom and cdrecorder. cx saks toreconfig you cd dev in order to install windows apps - it's a big pain. cx support told me cx does not paly well with SUSE. I like SUSE a lot better than Fedora and I like cx - oh well.

I would re-install the automount off of disk 5 but the system does see my cd dev - exactly.
the cdrecorder icon appears on the desk top when I boot up and both cd dev (plus floppy) are in my computer but they say I have to be root to mount them - I really don't like that but can live with it if I only knew how to get the mount cmd to work

What do I do once I get to # /media/cdrom I tried mount and ./mount and mount/dev/cdrom nothing works?

Cups is for printing not for cd-roms. Regardless, I have moved your post to Linux-General.

Hard to follow what you are saying...

What is "cx for Office 97" and what does that have to do with cups?

Sorry for the confusion

I mixed up two issues I am having

1.) I can not get my laptop (SUSE 9.3) to see the printer on my Desk Top (SUSE 9.3) using CUPS. I configured my Desk Top as the CUPS server using the GUI but the laptop just won't network to it - I used YaST to config the laptop - but I still can not get it to work. I don't know what dir to go to config it from the command line - and even if I did I would not know what to configure

2.) CX is Cross Office - I used it to install MS Office97 for my wife - during the install I got a promt that CX had to "fix" my CDROM - I let it. So now I have Office97 running on my Linux machine but my automount is broken and I do not understand how to use the Linux mount command.

I want to re-install the automount program from my SUSE CD5 but I can't mount the CD.
