cp problems

Hi All,

I am trying to copy a directory to another location and when I execute the command:

cp -rf /some_directory /new_location/some_directory

I am asked if I want to overwite each file. Why is it asking this and how I can just force it copy without prompting each file?

Thanks.

One possible problem is that the cp command could be aliased.

Try typing 'alias' at the command prompt to see if an entry for 'cp' is returned.

Happy Hunting,

That is a good link in your post, I had completely forgotten about using the '/' before the command to bypass the alias setting, without removing the protection that is provided by having the alias setting in place.
