copy svcd

Hiho!

How can I copy a svcd (video-cd)?

I searched a lot about this, but found nowhere some help except the hint, that k3b might be able to do this, but as I use gnome instead of kde, that's of few help...

I tried making an raw image with mkisofs and burning whith cdrecord, but it won't do. I think I've read somewhere long ago that cdrecord cannot really brun dao-mode but only cdrdao can. But how do I tell cdrdao to use an raw image instead of a cue/bin-file?

A workaround might be to rip the svcd's mpg and then use vcdimager and cdrdao to burn the svcd, but how do I rip a svcd then?

Would appreciate any hints oder ideas!!!

I recently ripped an SVCD (a friend's home-made kitten video if you must know ) without any problems. Since I didn't have an online connection at the time I finally resorted to using the dd command, and it worked well.

My CD-ROM is called /dev/scd0 since I use SCSI emulation, you may have /dev/hdc or something else, so you will have to change the following command according to your setup:
dd if=/dev/scd0 of=~/temp/filename.iso

The if= switch is the input file (in the traditional Unix sense - it is a device in this case, your CD-ROM), of= is the output file. Just burn the image you created using cdrecord or whatever you like.
