Question Changing to 32 Bit

Ok here's the deal. I am running SuSE ver 7.3. When I boot the system it defaults to 16 bit. I then go in and type the command
hdparm -c 1 /dev/hdb to get the system into 32 bit mode to speed up the drive somewhat. What do I need to do to get it to boot into this mode without having to type the command every time. Thanks for any help.
