Changing KDE themes

I want to install a new theme on Mandrake 9.1.

The steps that Kde-look.org gave me are as follows:
# Install the Theme/Style by either extracting and compiling it, or installing an RPM.
# Open the KDE-Menu and start the Control Center.
# Select "Look and Feel".
# Select "Style" if the package you installed was a style, or select "Theme Manager" if the package you installed was a theme.
# Select your theme or style.
# Click "Apply"

The only thing I don't know how to do is untar a "tar.gz" file, and then install it.

Can anyone please help me out? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I can untar it, but it tells me to install it as an RPM. How do I do that?

If you can untar it then its not an RPM.. Tell me what distro are you using.

I forgot to say.. You will have to compile from source.. CD to the folder where the source is and then.

./compile
make
make install
