can not boot to install cd

I am switching from redhat to debian. I downloaded the latest iso and did an md5sum and it matches. I burned it to a cd and when I try to boot from it, it will not go. It looks at the cd but then contiues to boot from the hard drive. I verified the iso on the cd and it is fine. If I put my redhat cd in and reboot, it goes to the install screen as expected. I set the cd drive to the first position to look at while booting in the bios. Any ideas why this is not working?

Well the only thing I can think of is are you sure you burned the ISO correctly? You can't just burn the ISO, you need to tell the program it's an image file. If you look into the contents of the CD, does it just contain the ISO file or does it look like your other install disc? If you are positive you burned it correctly (i.e. the contents of the CD aren't debian_install.iso or something and are a bunch of folders) then my guess is you may have had errors while burning the CD, or the CD is junked in one way or another. Also (I know you checked the md5sum) but maybe it just downloaded wrong or something (hey it could happed :P). So if all else fails, try and download from another source. Good luck!
