Can application for AIX be installed on Linux?

Can you tell me whether application designed for AIX be installed on one of linux distribution?

because of the similarities between UNIX and LINUX leads me to ask this question.

Short answer: no.
Long answer: maybe. AIX software could probably be ported to Linux with fairly minimal effort, but you have to at the very least re-compile it.

Depends on the program.

If the program uses kernel or libc features that aren't available on Linux, then you'd have to change the code to get around it. Otherwise, any POSIXish application should work after just a recompile (./configure; make; make install).
No promises, though.
