Can't play audio CD with xmms
Hi,
Firstly, apologies for starting this thread because judging by the search results it's a common topic. However, i've just spent 2 hours looking through threads on here and googling without any success.
I can't get CD audio to play at all using xmms although dcd works fine at the command line. I'm running Debian testing/unstable on the 2.4.22 kernel with KDE 3.1.3, xmms 1.2.7, and Audio CD Reader 0.14a (libcdread.so)
hdparm output looks like this...
toranaga:/home/simon# hdparm -i /dev/cdrom
/dev/cdrom:
Model=Compaq CRD-8484B, FwRev=1.06, SerialNo=
Config={ Fixed Removeable DTR<=5Mbs DTR>10Mbs nonMagnetic }
RawCHS=0/0/0, TrkSize=0, SectSize=0, ECCbytes=0
BuffType=unknown, BuffSize=0kB, MaxMultSect=0
(maybe): CurCHS=0/0/0, CurSects=0, LBA=yes, LBAsects=0
IORDY=on/off, tPIO={min:120,w/IORDY:120}, tDMA={min:120,rec:120}
PIO modes: pio0 pio1 pio2 pio3 pio4
DMA modes: mdma0 mdma1 *mdma2
AdvancedPM=no
I've tried every permutation of options in the audio cd plugin but every time i try and load /dev/cdrom in xmms nothing happens. It's not even as if it's playing the cd without sound - xmms just sits there as if I haven't loaded anything at all.
I can mount data cd's, listen to mp3's and, having just installed it with apt, play cd's with dcd but xmms doesn't want to know.
Thanks in advance
D.
