Question Can't get email working (FC5)

I can't get email sending or recieving in evolution or thunderbird(FC5). Settings I've tried -
POP server name:- mail.domain.com (port 110)
SMTP server name:- mail.domain.com (port 25)

a friend said to try this below
POP3.mail.domain.com and
SMTP.mail.domain.com but it made no difference. Everyone else on the LAN at work is Windows and email is OK for them. I have tried their settings with no luck there either. Error message says " No connection....timed out" Any ideas?. Bye richag77

is the mail server you are trying to access one that you host or is it your ISP's?

Do you have a firewall set up on the machine you are using?
