I'm trying to follow the Linux Kernel Module Programming Guide but compiling the first example always results in like a million errors. I've tried downloading a different kernel, compiling, and installing but I still have no luck. I've tried downgrading the preinstalled gcc from 3.4.6 to four slightly lower versions but compiling them eventually results in errors I don't know how to fix (c++ templates, ugh!). I've tried gcc2.95 and, uh... commented out any error pragmas
that complain about old gcc's, but in the end there is ALWAYS something missing leaving me clueless.
I'm using Zenwalk4.2 but have decided to abandon it for now to find a distro that dosen't need to have anything done to it before it can compile modules. Anyone out there have any pointers? Anyone have any success compiling modules on their distro without having to go through any crap.
