I'm working on building a Media Server PC based on KnoppMyth (Knoppix) and MythTV. I'm trying to upgrade the Kernel from 2.4.21 to 2.4.22 in order to be able to turn off local APIC and its conflict with my nVidia chipset.
I get through what seems like most of the compile, but end up with the following error message. The compile runs for about 7-8 minutes on my Athlon 2500+ before returning this message:
Quote:
depmod: Can't open /usr/src/linux/debian/tmp-image/lib/modules/extra/modules.dep for writing
make[2]: *** [_modinst_post] Error 255
make[2] Leaving directory '/usr/src/kernel-source-2.4.22'
make[1]: *** [real_stamp_image] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory'/usr/src/kernel-source-2.4.22'
make: *** [kernel-image-deb] Error 2

Any idea what might be causing this error and how I might fix it? How can I get a log file of the compile so I can track down what might be happening?
Thanks for your help!
