Boot Order

Dear Experts,

Two of the disks in my machine are attached to a PCI IDE card and these disks are part of a software raid array. When my machine boots up, MDAM attempts to start the array before the system initialises the PCI card. So every time I boot up I have to manually start the raid array and mount. Then I have to restart Apache and MYSQL because their data dirs are on those disks.

Any ideas about how I can fix this?

The quick hack is to start the array, sql etc from a script and set the script to run at boot. This will automatically run last in the boot sequence.

Now you are set, you can read up on the linux boot sequence to learn how to change the order

Almost set! I wrote and tested the script. I saved it in /etc/init.d. Then I typed:

Code:
ln /etc/init.d/bootorder /etc/rc5.d/bootorder
But there's no sign that it's running at boot time if I check dmesg.

dmesg is only for *kernel* messages I think.
