Blackbox


Hi there recently i just install blackbox. Inorder for me to start blackbox is to logout and login using windowmaker, from there i choose start blackbox. Is there a way there i can choose blackbox to start at the 1st place like kde, gnome and etc at the login menu?

By the way do blackbox have their own login sreen if have how are we going to use it?

Pls advise

What distro are you using? How do you log on currently? More info would be helpful.

blackbox

Hi..

try this


create a .xinitrc file in your home dir

just cd to your home, then create

cd
mcedit .xinitrc


inside that .xinitrc put something like this

# execute my favorite wm
exec blackbox

that should probably do it

See this post as well. The way I did it will just boot you into a console, and to start X you just run startx.

You might also check out Fluxbox as well. Everyone seems to have their favorite, but I tried fvwm2, blackbox, windowmaker, and icewm, and still like fluxbox best. Good for a newbie like myself.

If you boot into a console then all you have to do is type:

startx blackbox

no i didnt get it work.
i login in the login menu after that it will come back to the login screen again.

yeah, you should try the simple startx blackbox
At least that's what I do now, only it's startx KDE

OH, and I see a program when I boot up called Xtart, maybe that will help yeah?

I had the same problem...any solutions yet. I going to uninstall it and try again. Let you guys know the results tommorrow.

vi blackbox

[snip]

#!/bin/bash
openbox

[/snip]

after typing that (minus the [snip] part ) then do this:

*hit the ecs key*
:wq
*hit the enter key*
