Unhappy base-conf crippling error

Hey guys,

This process of trying to fix my problem has been extremely frustrating for me, after a number of posts on different forums on the internet for linux help it is frustrating to always see my post as the only one that dosn't have a solution posted. Hopefully my luck will change here.

I've successfully installed the base debian system, and I reboot from the installation I see linux initiating the various services and drives. My problem is that once it gets to "/usr/sbin/base-config: cat::" it says "command not found" - I see this repeated down the screen untill the line "INIT:Id "1" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes" and in five minutes the same process happens and repeats itself indefinetly as far as I can tell.

It is important that you realise I have access to the other tty's while this is going on, I also have other computers available so I can copy programs to disk and that sort of thing. I have tried rebooting with the CD and rescue floppy in the drive and nothing works. I have also tried removing base-conf and installing the newest version available, this also did not work.

I have found a page that relates to my problem (http://www.mail-archive.com/adam@arr.../msg00611.html) but was unable to extract any solid information that would help me to fix it, perhaps someone more knowledgeable then me could.

I hope this is fixable.

Thank you

Ahhh, the new release candidate.

I will be no help, sorry.

Have you tried a debian specific list-serv? (He asks knowing that the answer is yes).

Cheers--
Charles

lol, yes I have - debianhelp.org

Don't trouble yourself with it too much, I have a friend of mine at cyberarmy who is a kaladix developer that is helping me.

Everybody always says the internet and various interest groups will always have someone to help - you have no idea how many IRC channels and boards that I have made inquiries in without any response.
