Advice needed for school :)

Hey all,

I was wondering if you could help me with this:

I'm getting into my last phase of my study (starts in september) and the last 6 months is all about researching a fairly new or total new subject in the multimedia world.

We do this in most the time at commercial companies for commecial products. In most cases the company get more profit or can work more efficient by those researches.

I want to contribute to the opensource for the different reasons:

- I like working with linux cause it's free, it's stable, it's flexable (in looks, like different themes and compiz is just cool) and it's fun.
- It would be great if everyone at the opensource community could take advances of the reseach.
- It would very cool to help make linux a better product

The problem is always where to go. I don't really mind if I'm not get paid during this reseach (being paid pretty common in holland). I don't mind seeking adventure in foreign countries.

I'm studying Communication And Multimedia Design at the HRO Rotterdam (Rotterdam University).
In theory people graduate with this study are the people who should be standing somewhere between marketing people, the visual designers and the programmers. Every student have a small base in those 3 main things. After 2 years you have to choose a specialty (a minor) in one of those 3 things. I've chosen for programming for web and mobile. That's the most technial minor in our study.

Don't consider me as hardcore programmer, communication and multimedia design is not an IT study.

I've tried to teach myself things as well.

- I'm a php, html expert
- I've got some JAVA experience
- I'm working for current school project in C#
- I've programmed a long while ago in BASIC, PASCAL, C
- I'm a easy learner
- I'm running my own linux mail / web / samba server (I know everyone here does :P)
- Currently I'm working on shell scripting and my near future plans is c programming again (on linux this time)

There are always some stupid school rules :
-I need to work with at least 3 people and the must have at least university level.

-The outcome of the reseach must be a good advice or a multimedia product

The actual research part starts in around november for me.

Do you have good advice for me to realise this?

Already thnx for helping

Kind regards,

Leon

Could you give a short summary of the question? I am assuming you are looking for a project to do in your final year. As a minimum, summarize the requirements that they give you.
