Advantage Using an Ethernet link + a Wireless Link??

I have a miserably slow DSL and when I use my laptop, the wireless picks up a link automatically, in addition to the already plugged in ETH0.
Is there any benefit to this? For instance, increased speed?
I kind of doubt it, because I don't notice anything speeded up.
Just curious.

No, no benefit for you. Your routing table will only use a single link, the one with the default route associated with it.

Thank you,
I assumed something or other like that. Is there a downside to having both wireless and ETH active?
