try man useradd

you have to type in the name of the user you want to add like "useradd foo" or "adduser foo".

when you su type:

su -

or

su root

so you have all of roots abilities and of course type the name after adduser of what user you want to add.

Have you tried /usr/sbin/adduser ?
RH default doesn't include /usr/sbin in the PATH.

You could always do it the manual way... edit /etc/passwd, create the entry for your user, create his home dir and copy whatever files you need (.bash_profile, .bashrc, .wmrc, etc), change permissions on the dir to his, set his passwd. All done

if you do want to do it manually, remember that you need to specify a unique uid, (they usually start at 500 and increment by 1).

RH default doesn't include /usr/sbin in the PATH.
This is the problem that I had until I figured out that alot of distros don't default the /etc/profile as having /usr/local/sbin, /sbin or /usr/sbin in the path. My PATH statment looks like this:

# Set the default system $PATH:
PATH="/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/games:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/lib/jre1.3.1/bin"#

Add those to your /etc/profile. It's a good thing to have in there anyhow. You should be good then...
