About cross-compiling

Hi all,
So, I made the goof to get a mac in second hand. Turns out to be a powermac (powerpc chip)...though the "power" illudes me...
So, can I use things line buildroot to cross compile a distro to powerPC?
Thanks
Melissa

You could use clfs. This is like normal lfs but you are compiling for a different architecture. You build a set of tools that will run on your new machine, tar them up and transfer them over. Then you use them locally to build a complete system. There certainly used to be a clfs book for powerPC builds. I don't know how up to date it is.

IIRC, there was a clfs project but it faded. You'd be a fool to try it when there's powerpc linux distros there.
