A strage kernel(??) problem

Hi,
I've just came across a strange kernel compile problem. The strangest I've even experienced. Everything went well when I compiled and updated lilo but when I restarted, after choosing my new kernel in lilo, the only thing I could see was a blank screen. If I wait a while, I can log in root even though I don't see a thing. I can even startx without a problem. I tried changing the VESA framebuffer console settings in lilo.conf but even setting it to "normal" does'nt work. What could I have done wrong ??

Thx,
Rognon

You could have accidentally removed framebuffer support or somthing necissary for it. I'd check that.
