Lightbulb A Mouseless Quest...

Along with learning programming and linux, I want to try and go "uber 'leet" and not use a mouse. I've got a lot of keyboard shortcuts down, but I'm wondering if anyone knows how to highlight the addresss line in a web browser ? (or any other cool shortcuts you guys use). Thanks ahead!

Cheers,
Galen

In Firefox, that would be Ctrl+L.

KDE allows you to configure just about every keyboard shortcut through kontrol centre, by default, Alt+F2 runs a command.

But you probably want to look a mouseless window manager like RatPoison http://ratpoison.sourceforge.net/

Whoa! Sorry I didn't give my specs. I'm using 2.6.11.11 w/ Slackware Current and Dropline-GNOME. I know KDE allows that, but I just don't like KDE (maybe because most people do? hehe). Thanks soo much for the help with CTRL+L as I am using Firefox. I just looked at Rat Poison, it seems to look like WM and XFCE, and I'm pretty much addicted to GNOME's visual elegance (even with its lack of options). Thanks again guys!

Cheers,
Galen

Ratpoison has to be configured by yourself - though you'll find good configurations if you google ratpoisonrc.

The following coding is an example of writing your own script to toggle the personal tool bar in firefox:

Code:
#!/usr/bin/env bash
ratpoison -c "meta M-v"
ratpoison -c "meta t"
ratpoison -c "meta b"
You can then assign a key to this script using xbindkeys.

Ratpoison is thus superb for mouselessness.

The only problem I have is with navigating the browser page in firefox - vimperator does not give me the control I need.

Using shift+num-lock allows one to steer the mouse pointer using the keypad - but the pointer moves really slowly: does anyone know how to get it to move faster?

Mouseless isn't uber-leet.. I mean, when I first started using computers the mouse wasn't invented yet... :-/
