Question SuSE Quest!

Hi there!,

I have bought SuSE 9.0 a few weeks ago But it seems that the GCC included in SuSE 9.0 does'nt work correctly, I mean, it can't compile some code that can be compiled with older GCC. For example, FESTIVAL (very famous speech systhesis engine for linux), i can compile it on RedHat 8 (GCC 2.**). But when i compile it in SuSE 9.0 (GCC 3.**) it encounter problem (some include file not found).

Any idea ?

Are you missing a required library maybe? What's the name/path of the include file?

Unhappy but ...

But FESTIVAL (for example) can be compiled smoothly on redhat 8 (gcc 2.**) without to change path to the library file.

I don't think that is the problem. There are a lot of people out there (SuSE 9 users) that have the same problem with GCC 3.** included in the distribution.

Thankyou for your answer, but I'm hoping for another answer!

Maybe you could provide exact errors, and we'd be able to tell you if it could be missing libraries. It's possible that you had installed other libraries on RedHat 8, that aren't installed by default in SuSE 9. Without EXACT errors, we really can't tell you for sure, though.
