I am having a dual boot PC with WinXP on NTFS and Fedora Core. Recently I installed the CVS build of WineX. I had already installed Colin Mc Rae Rally 04 on my Windows partition which is an NTFS drive. I logged in as root and copied that folder into my home directory. I gave the necessary permissions to other users since the files copied from an NTFS will not have sufficient permissions. Now I logged in as a normal user and started the game. I got the following error:
fixme:ver:GetVersionExA OSVERIONINFOA is too large (possibly OSVERSIONINFOEXA)
err:win32:do_relocations Standard load address for a Win32 program(0x00400000) not available-security patched kernel?
err:win32:do_relocations FATAL: need to relocate Y:\Colin Mc Rae Rally 04 Demo\cmr4.exe, but no relocation records present(stripped during link). Try to run that file directly!
wine:Can't exec 'cmr4.exe' : error=21
Any idea as to why I am getting these errors? Is it because of NTFS drives? I also get Segmentation faults while running Unreal Tournament though the game runs fine. Do I have to install this game from Linux itself?
Also, when I tried to install Empire Earth, I got a similar fault. What is the cause of this fault?
I tried that too. But however, while trying to install a particular application, WineX exits with an error code of 21. Same relocation problem. Is this a problem with the CVS version generally? Is there any way to overcome this?
