Ive been reading Transgaming.com's releas notes and they said this...
"TransGaming has seen some instability with ATI cards using FireGL
and/or DRI running WineX. Games of note with issues are Battlefield
1942, Grand Theft Auto - Vice City and Sacrifice."
Exactly what am I going to see, or what is going to happen, in my favorite game on Linux?(which is Battlefield 1942) Laggyness during heavy combat in games? Low Frames per second? Funky textures? I have a radeon 9600, that should be more then enough to play it'. And I also want to know what the hells the difference bettween "FireGL", and "DRI"? I've been looking on ATI's web site and it tells me these two things: Graphic Drivers, and FireGL, which one do i get or do i need them both? Thanx!
i'm not sure what transgaming is talking about, i've never had any problems with my radeon 9200, though thats just running native games (i never could get winex working). If your worried about online WWII action get Enemy-Territory (i know it isn't that great). Or the ut2003 mod red orchestra www.redorchestramod.com (though currently there is a pretty lengthy workaround to get it running on linux, but they've promised to fix it and give us a working linux installer [finally![)
I agree, Enemy Territory kicks A$$. Been playing it constantly on my system running mandrake 9.2 r2, w/Radeon 8500. I got WineX working (rpm install) but it doesnt like my SC:Broodwar game (wont install the update, when downloaded via battle.net in game)
