tv in for ati cards

i got a radeon 9250 vivo here that i really want to get the tv in to work under debian 3.1
i've looked at gato but their documentation is so bad that i have no idea how to install/get it to work correctly
i've installed the components but xawtv can't detect the tv in from the card

does anyone know any tv in driver for ati?
