tux racer runs fine except if i dont press anything he steers way left, kind of like if youre using an uncalibrated gamepad but im not using a game pad. im on an amd64 system, i dont know if its buggy like that or anything. thanks in advance.

Since clicking the keys to steer and play the game denote a problem it's not running fine.

Is this a 64bit version of the game?

Hi,

I'm experiencing a very similar problem except that for me it goes to the right. I tried looking at the Tux Racer website and in the FAQ it mentions that it might be because of a joystick that is not calibrated correctly, or, if the computer thinks that there's a joystick installed. I have never installed a joystick on my system, nor do I own one. How would I go about checking to see if that's the problem? Could the problem be something else?

I'm running Fedora Core 3 on a Dell Inspiron 600m (Centrino).

Thanks.

Hi,

Well, I figured out what the problem was... it turns out that it was the touchpad on my laptop. For some reason the touchpad can control the little character, which is odd because if I plug in a mouse and try to control the character with the mouse the character is unresponsive to the mouse. I wonder why that happens.

Thanks.

Hi,

Hmm... I see... How did you turn off the touch pad? I'm not aware of how to do that.

The way I dealt with the problem was just to move the touch pad a little bit, either to the right or left, while the game is playing until the penguin character isn't moving either to the left or right when I'm not pressing either arrow keys.

Take care.

I see. My laptop lacks that feature. You don't have a joystick or anything like that, either, do you? (Or maybe your system thinks there a joystick?) I'm out of ideas otherwise.
