I'm trying to play Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight through wine. I'm using Slackware 10.
I managed to install everything ok but when I try to run the jk.exe file and the game starts up it asks for the CD to be inserted. I put the CD in the drive and press [Enter] as requested and nothing happens. Ever.
As far as I can tell it's because my computer isn't even attempting to check if I've put the CD in the drive. Any ideas?
Mount the CD-rom manually first, then run jk.exe. You may also need to disable the videos and you can only run this game in Software rendering mode. This not only disappointed me, but also makes me wonder why Software Rendering only, when the game supports OpenGL :S.
Thanks for your help. Using the information on this site I managed to get the game to load but it wouldn't respond to any key presses, I don't know if it's because of the way I have wine configured. But I give up. As you can problably tell from any of my previous threads I've never managed to get a single game running on Linux, even ones that were written for linux.... I guess I'll save up for a PS2 instead cos there ain't a chance in hell I'm re-installing Windows on this computer, it's crap enough without the OS letting it down
