is there any way of getting the windows version quake III: arena (or team arena, makes no difference to me) to work in linux.

I have the windows versions of both and i was just wondering cause i want to be able to use them in linux.

ID made a very good linux port.
Just search the net for the pointrelease 1.32b for linux, it installs everything except pak0.pak, get it from your quake3 cd or symlink it to your windows partition
and everything shoul be ready to run.
I don't know details on team arena, but I think you just need to copy/symlink it's data directory.

Enjoy

yes you need 3d acceleration.

if I remember, somebody made either quake or doom (I forget) entirely in ASCII, if you can find it, theres a chance that it wont require 3d acceleration, but thats no guarantee.

EDIT: here it is but I was wrong, it does require 3d acceleration.
