New using Kubuntu 7.04 Linux

Well after getting a virus from a family member which I showed much appreciation for, had no other choice but to format but the Windows CD had a nice gouge in it so couldn't load it up again. But got the Kubuntu now just confused because no games will install because I need to download something and the soundcard doesn't work all the time in which I have to keep restarting the computer till it works but sounds crappy and the installation CD does not work. Just need to know what is needed to be installed from the Add/Remove or whatever so I don't blow $200 for a new windows CD.

Please, use punctuation! This is close to unreadable.

Games are a difficult issue. Since most of them were not written for linux you have to run them with an emulator or wrapper like wine/cedega or dosbox. It might be best to ask for a specific game in the game subforum (linux software - games).

could you be more specific than 'crappy'
The installation cd doesn't work? How does that fit in here?

You found add/remove! You're on the right way
This is where you will be installing 95% of what you need.
Maybe this side will help a little:
