Question Error in starting UT2003 demo

Trying to get the Unreal Tournament 2003 demo running. I thought I had it ready to go. However when I type in "./UnrealTournament" in the terminal, I get the UT splash screen, but it goes no farther than that. The spash screen disappears, and the following message shows up in the terminal:

cp: cannot stat `/root/.utconf': No such file or directory
Can't find file for package 'GlideDrv'
Aborted (core dumped)

Anyone have any suggestions?

thats because you don't type ./UnrealTournament

try

ut2003_demo

with no ./ before it

Looks like there is no ut2003_demo file.
Also if I try "UnrealTournament" without the ./ I get "Command not found"

Yeah, I have an Nvidia card inside. Nvidia comes with 3D support, right?

salparadise, I am not sure I understand what you mean when you say "su to root:. I am assuming that means opeate in the terminal as root, which I am doing. But when I try the other stuff. It goes like this....

[root@localhost root]# updatedb
bash: updatedb: command not found
[root@localhost root]# locate ut2003
bash: locate: command not found
[root@localhost root]#

thats nutty. locate and updatedb is standard w/ distros. try the find command. beware, though, it has a wacky syntax.

nvidia does NOT come with 3d support
unless you bought an off the shelf official version of Linux
you will need to download and install the nvidia drivers

you need slocate installed

open a terminal
su to root and type

urpmi slocate

this will install slocate and enable the updatedb command and the locate command
