Which Fedora do you have? Maybe 64 bit version?

Try this:
Code:
cd /usr/local/bin
ldd doom.x86

[jim@localhost ~]$ cd /usr/local/bin
[jim@localhost bin]$ ldd doom.x86
ldd: ./doom.x86: No such file or directory
[jim@localhost bin]$ dir
doom3 doom3-dedicated doom3-demo ssamtse
[jim@localhost bin]$

Running F8 32 bit. doom3-demo runs but doom, doom3-dedicated and ssamtse do not. Not worried about sam right now since that has its own problems.

I see that you used doom-smth-multilanguage.run. Where did you get it (that file), cause i can't see such file here: ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/doom3/linux . There is also a warning:
Quote:
localization

Localization is untested in the Linux builds at this point. More localization features are possible in future release. Until then you should not copy over the zpak000.pk4 file at all.

I googled a bit and most popular solution for your error is not having libSDL installed. Check if you have it.

Try running with these parameters:
Code:
$ doom3 +set developer 1 +set logfile 1
More info at: http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/doom/

BTW, can you post a list of files in your doom base directory,

Code:
cd doom_base_directory
ls -a //this lists all files there, -a means all

Well went back and looked around at the downloads at http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/doom/ just for grins decided to download an older file. Guess what IT WORKS!!!!!!

I downloaded the file doom3-linux-1.1.1286.x86.run ran that instead of the one that they have set as the new default file doom3-linux-1.3.1.1304.x86.run. Once I went to run it I knew it would work even though at first it dumped on me but I seen right away it had to do with the sound. Luckily I had saved the DoomConfig file from the demo.

The multilanguage.run. file that I had tried came from http://www.liflg.org/ tried that after the official file failed. At that time I hadnt seen that there where older files at zerowing

So far I am uninpressed with http://www.liflg.org/ as they are 0 for 4 on getting anything installed on my system. I tried there doom3 installer. two of there serious sam tse and one for serious sam tfe installers.

At least id had an installer that did work next time I will have to look around more if the latest does not work and try an older one.

padsp doom3
^try that. it starts doom3 through the PulseAudio OSS plug-in thingo... in the doom3 menu there's a way to change it to use "Best" for the sound output... that'd be SDL (or OpenAL?) anyway... then it should work without the "padsp" prefix...
