Does the Linux distro matter with emulated gaming?

I've just read that slackware and gentoo are good for emulated gaming. Like in HL u can get like 10fps more then MDK. so is this true or is it a bunch of bolony? I have Redhat 9 and i want to know if it is good for gaming?

It depends, their all basically the same, its how their optimized and how much is actually running at the same time as the game.

If your kernel is compiled for your CPU, then you're gonna get about the same speed regardless of distro.
