hi
i have installed the following rpm's to play heretic in my suse 8.2 box:
heretic-common-1.1-1.i386.rpm
heretic-fastx11-1.1-1.i386.rpm
heretic-gl-1.1-1.i386.rpm
heretic-x11-1.1-1.i386.rpm
SDL-1.2.6-1.i386.rpm
SDL-deve1.2.6-1.i386.rpm

all rpms installed correctly, but when i try to run /usr/local/games/xheretic OR glheretic
the game initializes and start-up screen is displayed without any menu in it, and it freezes. any keyboard action makes it quit.

what seems to the problem? anyone can give me some clue?

did you run it from the console? did the console give you any error output? you could check this FAQ to see if it has your problem solved:
