You can check the sizes of the partitions on the hard drive by booting the SuSE install CD into rescue mode. Then issue this command:

fdisk -l /dev/hda

If the partition that you are trying to install SuSE to has 3 G or more then you should be OK. If the partition is large enough have you formatted the partition? You can format the partition during the install.
