SuSE 9.2 Install Problem

Ive got the 5 CD ISO set of SuSE 9.2. I have used this CD set to put SuSE on my friends computer and my notebook with no problems. However, on my desktop when i try to install it throughout the software package install i keep getting error messages that say something like "This Is Not A RPM File" also something about an "I/O Error". Every time i try to re-install it though, the RPM packages that it rejects are different.

The first time i did (actually my friend did it) an install on this computer i had this problem but it let me get all the way through the install (clicking ignore on the failed RPMs) and i had a working machine. He pretty much did a full package install though and i didnt want all that stuff so i wanted to wipe my drive and start from scratch. Now every time i go through this it only gets through the first CD, then tries to boot to linux, restarts, and im basicly where i started.

Could this be a problem with my CD drive? Its pretty nice and ive never had any other problems with it. My machine is decent (Pentium 3, 700mg RAM) Should i try a different distro? Untill this week i have never used linux before, so im still feeling things out. I really liked how SuSE was working while i did have it on my machine, so id like to keep using it if possable. Ive breifly used Red Hat and i didnt like it as much. I know there are some issues with SuSE 9.2, but with that release they greatly improved Wireless Network and External USB Device capabilities, both of wich i use and worked perfectly straight from the OS install.

SuSE is a great Distro for beginners. You might try SuSE 9.2 personal instead of the Pro version, It comes on one CD and the install is way more automated. My non tech non geek brother installed it after a SP2 upgrade ruined his computer. He became an instant convert and the install was flawless. Personal can be downloaded from Novells site, or buy it for $29.00 US at a computer store. The few problems with 9.2 will be addressed in the usual way, with YaST updates.

"I/O Error". - is is regular media error. There only two options here. Both mechanical. Either media is damaged ir your device needs cleaning.
