Hello,
I was wondering:
Can we build Linux From Scratch from an host OS other than GNU/Linux, say FreeBSD.
It is certainly possible but I would like to know if it would be more difficult? Would the instructions in the LFS book be sufficient or would we need to pass some options to the compiler to specify which kernel to compile for (kind of cross-compiling but on the same arch). Because isn't it cheating to build GNU/Linux from GNU/Linux
GCC static (First pass) built (with compiler on freebsd: GCC or FreeBSD default compiler
) for kernel freebsd with cross-compiling to Linux enabled???
Libraries built with GCC static cross compiled for Linux
and GCC dynamic (second pass) built with GCC static cross compiled for Linux
Thank you.
