no previous prototype

I've tried Binutils Pass 1 in section 5.3.1 several times and when doing

make -C ld LIB_PATH=/tools/lib

I keep running into "Warning no previous prototype" for yyget_lineno and others.

I'm doing the configure, make, make install from:

$LFS/sources/binutils-build

I think this is correct.

I'm building from the live 6.1.1 CD, so everything needed should be there.

Any help is appreciated.

Oh, there will be many warnings when building. I think you can let them go, they are not critical unless they lead to some error. There are even some eroors (while running tests in chapter 6) which you can neglect. LFS book says these errors are known to be unavoidable and more or less harmless. You should get worried only in chapter 6 if totally failing compiling or some tests and checking if your tests results do not match test-logs on LFS homepage:
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/build-logs/

Sorry, I have passed binutils compiling some time ago and cannot say if I had the same warnings. But I am sure that almost every package gave me some warnings.

Thanks for the reply. Will check the book again.

The build logs are interesting.
