modprobe ipw2100 hangs computer.

hi,
i have kernel 2.6.5. everytime i do "modprobe ipw2100," it prints out something like (writing from memory):

Intel PRO/Wireless ...
...
PREEPT
CPU 0
...
(register contents)
...
(call stack)
....

then the computer hangs there. all i can do is ctrl+alt+del to reboot.
any suggestions?
(i do the same thing on mdk10 and it works fine.)
thanks.
