libreadline...first one problem leads to another

Ok I decided to try doing LFS install today. I erased my SuSe linux, and erased the MBR. Booted the LFS live cd and started the book. So I get past the temporary system and into chapter 6. I get to a part where you have to build glibc. So I try to configure it, it says I'm missing libreadline. So I go back and trie reinstalling it. But now it says that gcc isn't in /tools/bin. So I try reinstalling gcc...and I got another can't find a lib error.

Should I start over, or just start from a cirtant point?

(I am assuming the problem is I was watching star wars wile I was installing it, so I'm sure I messed up somewhere. I'll probably just redo it in a week, during Christmas break)

Weird, Readline doesn't need to be install in chapter 5.

I think when you compile chapter 5 you used non static link or incorrect library path when compile it. so some of the program that you compile in chapter 5 search for libreadline library from your livecd.

perhaps when you compile chapter 5,you missed a few parameter ?

Note: perhaps you need to carefull when compile binutils or adjust toolchain in chapter 5. so it's search in correct library path
and the PATH=/tools/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin
/tools/bin must first in search path.

Hmmm now that I think about it, I do remember a couple of things. Firstly I didn't reconize the sideways ' so that thre me off, when I learned your suppost to replace that with something. And I didn't configure/make/make install binutils from /binutils-build.

Took me have 5 hours(with a few minor pauses) to just build the toolchain. But now I know what to expect, and since its going to take this long, I might as well wait for Christmas break. But this was a good learning experience! I am more prepared and know what to expect for next time. And I'll hopefulyl get it right next time.
