I finished the steps but why still no sound?

Quote:
root@lfs:/home/phenix# lspci -v | grep -i audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04)
then I use the steps from this page
http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc...dule=hda-intel
everything seems to go well during the steps

but now, there's still no sound.

Quote:
root@lfs:/home/phenix# alsaconf
/usr/sbin/alsaconf: line 34: which: command not found
/usr/sbin/alsaconf: line 319: which: command not found
/usr/sbin/alsaconf: line 322: which: command not found
Error, dialog or whiptail not found.
what should I do?

which is a command that you apparently are missing. On my system it is in /usr/bin.

Do a find on it, or a locate if you have that command. Probably it is either missing or someplace on your system that is not in the path. Or, perhaps, it isn't set up to be an executable (in which case you get to learn about the chmod command).

I'm not going to play the abbot and costello routine here, though I do understand the humor of the situation.

The command name is "which". You need the "which" command.

First, did you unmute it by running "alsamixer"?

Copy the scripts from alsa-utils and run it... then unmute it using alsa-mixer
