Unhappy Un-finished Install

After RH9 finishes it's install and I take out CD#3, RH boots up and it doesn't complete the install. After it checks out a few OK's it stops at FIRSTBOOT and nothing else happens, my pc just turns off. So the install doesn't complete. I have tried to boot to the boot cd and I get the same results, no error messages, just complete shut down. I even installed it twice same results. Please advise.

If it tells you a few oks in green thats a good sign
if it shuts down after that thats a bad sign
When it starts to shutdown i need to know the last thing it said ok to and the one that it failed on which should be the very next thing listed. Its most likely some kind of service that is failing.
post it here and maybe i can help

Angry

it hangs on the "Starting FirstBoot", then it shuts down while trying to OK it. That is the last string I get.

Last night I re-formated my hard drive, installed Win XP (NTFS) on one partition and RH9 on the second partition, but with the same results. Both partitions are over 6.5gig so plenty of room, on a PII, 433mhz, 256ram. It just fails after it tries to "Starting FirstBoot" and I did make a boot cd, but with the same freaken results. UGH!!

p.s.
I did install RH9 on my laptop at work with Win2000 (NTFS) with no problems and RH9 runs like a champ.

when grub comes up and has your choices highlighted move over to linux and press the letter "a"
it will then say
grub append> ro root=LABEL=/
press "space" then 1
so it looks like this grub append> ro root=LABEL=/ 1
your prompt might look a little different dont worry about it
after that it will bring you to a shell from this is called init level 1.
when you get there type these commands exactly
rm -rf /etc/rc.d/rc?.d/*firstboot*
init 6
the computer should reboot
Lets see if that works
