what if instead of creating my own linux distribution, i will get a linux distribution and edit it... is it possible to create a new distruibution from an already existing distribution

Your question doesn't really have anything to do with LFS, which is a project explaining how to compile a complete linux system from source code, so I don't know why you posted in this forum. But anyway, sure it's possible. That's why you'll find lots of Slackware-based distros, such as College linux and Vector linux; as well as lots of Redhat-based distros like Mandrake (let's see if that starts a flame war).

Yes, this is exactly what Mandrake did with RedHat, and what Knoppix have done with Debian.
