Question chapter 6, what am i doing wrong?

I'm trying to make a LSF-system for the first time and i am using knoppix as base-system. i downloaded the packages and put them in $LFS/lfssources. I installed all the packages according to chapter 5 and everything seemed to go just fine. (i did however do everything as root, because it was just as easy and i figured i couldn't destroy the knoppix-system in any way)

so (still as root) i run:
Quote:
chroot $LFS /static/bin/env -i \
HOME=/root TERM=$TERM PS1='\u:\w\$ ' \
PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/static/bin \
/static/bin/bash --login
my bash then says :"I have no name!" (this to me indicates the chroot worked..)

but when i now try to use any commands such as ls or mkdir (except for the cd command) my bash tells me something like: "directory or command does not exist."

what did i do wrong ?

I found the problem. i thought i had completed chapter 5 correctly, but i didn't. for some reason (i think i made a typo or something) the file-utils-package compiled the wrong way and didn't have static linking.

(use the file <filename> -command to see if a file is dynamically/statically linked).

after recompiling everything worked fine

(thanks to the guys on irc.linuxfromscratch.org)
