well thanks to the people that actually helped and not to the one asshole who will not be named that just watches somebody need help, then makes retarded remarks. good job.

you dont have to be an asshole about everything. your first piece of advice was the most retarded thing ive ever seen. its basically exactly what i posted, so you can go suck a big one

If the path is binutils-build/binutils-2.17/configure then it looks like you've extracted the tar file to to binutils-build instead of the top level directory.

I take it that you ended up running /binutils-build/binutils-2.17/configure and that was when you started getting errors? if your current directory is binutils-build have you tried:

CC="gcc -B/usr/bin/" ./binutils-2.17/configure \
--prefix=tools --disable-nls --disable-werror
Also, please watch the language - by all means disagree with people, but the rest isn't necessary.

i keep getting a ton of input/output errors. one example:

file conftest.s1 undetermined line comand

and

buffer i/o error on device dm-0, logical block 327680
(a bunch of those)
