RedHat Linux 9.0 vs. RedHat Desktop

I want to develop some applications with strict timing requirement. Can anybody tell me whether I should choose RedHat Linux 9.0 or RedHat Desktop? P.s.: do both of them support Linux Kernel 2.6 especially the kernel preemption functionality? Thanks a lot!

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
