Im going to be building a server for my father's company. They are not wanting to spend alot of money so i suggested that we put together a "test" server running linux to see how it works. They are wanting the customers to be able to basically have a place online to store files and access them wherever they go. And it has to be secure. I will have to setup storage quotas depending on what plan the customer has.
Also i have a exabyte external SCSI tape drive that i would like to use to backup the data. Has anyone had experience with the Tape Backup module for webmin?
I've used webmin before, though not that module, and I think it's really a quite efficient way for new users to adminster a system. I personally use Gentoo linux (http://www.gentoo.org) and really enjoy working with it. It has a great community who will always help you out.
Let me know if you have any more questions and I'd be glad to answer them.
I have been through gentoo before.. I printed out the entire install instructions and had little notes scribbled everywhere lol. If anyone wants to learn linux commands they need to install gentoo I finally gave in an quit messing with it because i could not get KDE running right.
But since I'm running a server i have no need for KDE now.. Ill try gentoo again and give it a shot.. If i cant get it working at least i would have freshened up my linux commands
