Which would you recommend?

Ok,
I've been using Red Hat Linux 9 for a while now. I can never get my linksys WMP11 wireless network card to work. Does anyone think that Knoppix would be better? I'm just curious. Maybe I could try and dual boot them and see which one's better. I'm not sure what to do. Also if anyone knows of any way to get my PCI card working, let me know--I can't get ndiswrapper to install right...

Linux is Linux.. when you break them all down, they consist of the same code and components. Some might have the support builtin, some you may have to recompile or add the support yourself. I'd say stick with Redhat and get your gear working, just cause you can't get it to work in one distro doesn't mean you have to switch.

And instead of asking such questions on whether or not you should switch, you should ask more specific questions to get your hardware working. And get your PCI card working?? You do realize there are probably thousands upon thousands of different hardware devices that fit into a PCI slot.. That's why I said get detailed when asking your questions..

Cheers

Well to see my problem, go into the newbie section and look at the ndiswrapper thread--it's by me...It's like 2 pages long--Just in case I'm downloading Knoppix--Since it is a live cd maybe I could see if I could get it to work?

Just to give you a hint, you should search for WMP11 as its been discussed many times and should work in Linux. About your ndiswrapper problem, lets not discuss it now in this thread if you already have a thread regarding it, as that would be double posting or creating a post to point to your existing questions/thread which is also a no no..

Other than the addition of another small plastic straw to the landfill haystack, burning and trying knoppix isn't hurting anyone. It's famous for it's incredible h/w detection/config capabilities. If it does work, copy the config over to your RH if that's what you truly prefer.

Boy this was an easy one (about the only kind I could possibly answer). Hmm. Mebbe I should start a thread on the easiest question ever posted at LQ (ok, let's not and say we did)
