Oracle Server Dead Randomly

Hi,all
We have a Primary DB Server, Dell 2650, AACRAID(Server primary disk) and MEGARAID(Dell RAID Array), running Oracle 9204, Debian GNU/Linux glibc 2.3.2, Kernel 2.6.6, with a Java application, using NPTL0.
We will meet a system crash randomly, ofen crash per 3 days, sometimes the system dead, no any response, sometimes, the server can response PING, but can not logged in.
We can not find out any reason for this problem, the server's load average not very high(5-20 mostly), Java threads 300-500, any body meet this type problem?
Thanks.

Oracle 9.2 on a system running glibc 2.3.2 ? are you sure ? As far as I remember 9.2 wont run on anything but a glibc 2.2.1 thru 2.2.5 based system, the reason being is the java runtime shipped with i9.2 is linked against glibc 2.2.x. and generally behaves badly or wont run at all on a 2.3.2 glibc. Of course I could be wrong, but its something to check.

HTH

Mad.

Hi,

Your version of glibc is fine. I am running 9i on RHEL AS3 on 2650's and have:
glibc-2.3.2-95.27

It may be the aacraid driver. I had mega problems getting it to work. The latest version on the DELL website was useless as was there support. I put alias scsi_hostadapter aacraid_10102 in modules.conf to force RH Linux to use the older version of the driver that came with the CD's and it has worked ever since.

Kind Regards,

Colin
