knoppix and my sound card :(


Well the livecd found it easy but, when i installed it the hole os doesnt recoensie it, XINE works with it but xmms doesnt

this is knoppix 3.8 and it is enabled in the control center?

has anyone got a soloutiion?

As sound works with Xine, I would first make sure it's not muted. Run your favorite mixer to make sure everything is firing. If it is and you still don't have sound, it may be best to install ALSA(Advanced Linux Sound Architecture). As Knoppix is based on Debian, you can use either apt-get or a GUI front end like Synaptic to download/install ALSA. Once installed, you can use alsaconf to detect your soundcard and install the correct drivers, then run the mixer again to make sure the levels are where you want them.

Err, sorry, i kind of switched to slackware since it seems to working propley

Not a problem! I like Slackware better anyway! Alot cleaner, faster and more flexible IMHO. I'm glad you got it working!
